But if the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
None of the crimes he committed shall be remembered against him; he shall live because of the virtue he has practiced.

for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Philippians 4:11-13
I know how to live in humble circumstances;
I know also how to live with abundance.
In every circumstance and in all things
I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry,
of living in abundance and of being in need.
I can do all things in him who strengthens me.

Psalm 40:1-4
I waited patiently for the Lord;
He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the lord.
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who fall astray after false gods!

Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to
your protection, implored your help, or sought your
intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this
confidence, we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, our
Mother; to you do we come, before thee we stand, sinful and
sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise
not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer
us. Amen.

Matthew 7:24-25
"Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

The Epiphany of Jesus
Today is the Feast of the Epiphany of Jesus.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea,
in the days of King Herod,
behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
"Where is the newborn king of the Jews?
We saw his star at its rising
and have come to do him homage."
When King Herod heard this,
he was greatly troubled,
and all Jerusalem with him.
Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people,
He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
They said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea,
for thus it has been written through the prophet:
And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
since from you shall come a ruler,
who is to shepherd my people Israel."
Then Herod called the magi secretly
and ascertained from them the time of the star's appearance.
He sent them to Bethlehem and said,
"Go and search diligently for the child.
When you have found him, bring me word,
that I too may go and do him homage."
After their audience with the king they set out.
And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them,
until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house
they saw the child with Mary his mother.
They prostrated themselves and did him homage.
Then they opened their treasures
and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,
they departed for their country by another way.

Forgiveness
In the "Apostle's Creed" we believe in the "forgiveness of sins", in the "Our Father" we pray "forgive us our trespasses" and in the "Hail Mary" we say "pray for us sinners".
We all make mistakes, but as we meditate today especially on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, we look to the image of Jesus nailed to the cross with His arms open wide to love us.
